Having been going to Ireland every year since i can remember Bream bashing , we decided that as keith would be celebrating his 50th birthday later in the year we would do something a bit special this year, and boy how special it turned out to be.
We went all inclusive having got the details from the web site and booked a weeks holiday in June , a holiday which sounded too good to be true.
Geoff was there to pick us at the Airport and take us to our destination , checking us into our room and then swiftly on to Grumpy,s bar for a couple of pitchers of ale and some grub before bed.
Being new to the camp we had a bit of a lay in before geoff and colin set us up with the Quality tackle which would be ours to use for the week.
After breakfast at the marina cafe it was off to one of the pre baited hot spots, located beside a road bridge on the edge of the leisure park.
As our previous experience of carp was mainly at commercial venues back home and personal best stood at about 16lb we waited in anticepation for what would surely be carp to that size and beyond.
We was,nt to be dissapointed as the 1st fish l landed after a terrific fight came in at over 27lb, this setting the standard for more personal best,s to follow.
The next couple of days were spent at Hoople creek and many hard fighting carp up to 33lb were caught.Keith and i wondered why at this point we had spent so many years chasing bream in ireland as this experience was beyond our expectations.
Our next trip out was to an island , Geoff and Colin took us out there on there boat and what a great day we had, more stonking carp, lovely weather and terrific landscape views.
I must say at this point that throughout the holiday, nothing was too much for Geoff, Marriane and Colin , who made sure that everthing was to our liking.
Everyday our break fast and pack lunches were brought out to us, all fresh and apertising, and evening meals which were excellent in house or at a local restaurant, in addition to that we also had a few barbacue,s, who could want for more.
All told we had over 120 carp between us ( not bad for a couple of irish bream bashers) most in the late 20s and a few over 30.
We met some great people staying at the motel, had a fantastic time and yes we can,t wait to come back.
Thanks again for making Keiths 50th birthday so memorible.
Cheers Neil.
